Movie - The Adjustment Bureau

Yesterday I watched one of the cool movie of 2001, The Adjustment Bureau, starring Matt Damon and Emily Blunt. This is one of the cool movie because of its story which is different from others. You can say that the story might raise questions about Free Will but overall it showed the concept of Options and choices.

The story is kind of straight forward, a person loves a girl and he is willing to sacrifice everything for her but a secret bureau "The Adjustment Bureau" is not allowing him to be with the girl. Reason? The Bureau's Chairman has decided a plan for the person in which the girl doesn't fit. So the bureau does everything to stop them. Now it seems easy story isn't it? But the key point here is that the Bureau person's have special powers and infact they are Angels while the Chairman is supposed to be the God. In one scene when Matt Damon asked Anthony Mackie that whether he is chairman then he replied that Chairman is known by many names and you might have met him/her as he/she meets people in disguise.

This movie is a kind of extension of my thought that there are methods by which we can let everyone think that they have been offered choices but we control what they will choose. This is the same with God, he gives us choices but if he wants then he control which choice we make. Then where is the "Free Will".

Do watch this movie if you want to see something new, fast and action paced. Though if you want movies for smashing fight scenes then there are not those kind of scenes in this movie but still its really fast paced movie.

Spartacus : Blood and Sand

Some days back I got chance to watch Spartacus : Blood and Sand Series, previously I never watched any TV Series completely, I had only watched some episodes of Mortal Kombat : Conquest. I never liked TV Series much due to their lengths but since Spartacus : Blood and Sand was of only 13 Episode so I decided to give it a go.

To my surprise it was better than any movie, the scale of the Show, the story, the acting, direction, cinematography I mean everything was superb. I couldn't resist to watch all 13 episodes and I watched them in 4 nights (i.e. around 4 hours daily).

The story of Spartacus was beautifully presented with lots of twist and plots. I must say that it was long time since I watched anything such wonderful.

The plot was based on historic event where a Slave Spartacus rebel against Roman Slavery and fought war. In the First season, the story revolves before the revolt. How the Tracian warrior was taken into slave, then his wife was killed and he became the Champion of Capua. How he found the plot behind the death of his beloved wife Saura, and how he revenged. The whole series had lots of violence, dirty language and sexual scenes with lots of nudity but nothing looked like it was unnatural. Infact, after long time I saw any show where the director showed what was necessary, I mean when a master commands a slave to undress then the slave shows no hesitation, that was truth in old days and that was portrayed as. Even Homo sexuality was not displayed as any thing out of the world. The fight and death scenes contain lots of Gore and Death and those who don't have strong heart should not see it.

But for those who like Gladiator and 300, it is bigger, violent and better than both of these movies and in my opinion it is much more realistic than Gladiator or 300.

Also in this series Lucy Lawless (aka Xena) showed her full body in different scenes. So those who liked Series Xena, they will find delight in this series.

A must watch for those who like Blood.

Now I am watching Spartacus: Gods of Arena (A Prequel to Spartacus: Blood and Sand, as the Lead Actor Andy Whitefield was diagnosed with Cancer hence the season 2 was postponed.)

A Movie by Prakash Jha. It was much hyped and luckily when it released I was in Delhi so I got chance to see the first day show.

First thing, there is nothing like Sonia Gandhi or any reference to any Political Party in this movie. Its not even look like the actual political scenario throughout the movie. The Killing and Violence is more inspired from Gangster Movies rather than any tricks which are used in Politics. For every problem in this movie, the only solution was Killing. Only in one scene it was shown that people of politics can trade, when Ranbir agreed to Marry Katrina but later due to political situation he has to ask Katrina to marry his older brother. Other than that no other scene showed any type of Politics. As I earlier said it was totally inspired by Godfather and it looked more as a Violent Gangster movie.

The elements of Mahabharat were there to justify certain actions of the actors as well as to bring some movement in story. But main objective of those elements was to let audience think that they have watched modern Mahabharat, but infact they watched Indian Godfather. Those who watched Godfather felt cheated while others enjoyed.

Another aspect which shall be talked and that is, this is first time Prakash Jha has to use Sex to promote his movie. Shruti Seth, Katrina Kaif and Sara they all showed their body and had one screen sex scene. To promote this movie Prakash Jha even said that there is one deleted sex scene (between Arjun Rampal and Theatre actress, Shruti Seth) which will be featured in DVD. Another gimik to promote the DVD of the movie.

This movie had more violence, sex than any Prakash Jha's movie and hence not a good idea to watch it with children.

My recommendation :

If you haven't watched The Godfather then you will surely like it (Rating : 4/5)
If you had watched The Godfather you will not like it very much (Rating : 3/5)

Overall it is a nice movie to watch atleast once but nothing special to speak about. Many would like it, talk about it but those who have watched real cinema may left a bit disappointed. This movie surely will be a hit, but it would never be a classic.

Silence of the Lambs

After much thought I finally decided to watch this classic movie. I was never Fan of Sir Anthony Hopkins and that was the only reason why I never wanted to see this movie. However After watching this movie I instantly became fan of Sir Anthony Hopkins. This movie is a timeless classic and every thriller fan should watch it.

The story is based on a simple plot. There is one Criminal who is named as Buffalo Bill, and to catch him, FBI Agent 'Clarice Starling' needs the help of Dr. Hannibal Lecter. The whole story revolves around this plot.

Sir Anthony Hopkins played a very small role (Total Screen Time less than 17 minute) but he played it so efficiently that the whole movie looked like it was his movie. He also won Academy Award for his role.

I also watched the other two movies of Hannibal Series : Red Dragon & Hannibal, they both were equal to the first movie.

Luckily I also got chance to see Bollywood copy of Silence of the Lambs, it is 'Sangharsh' featuring Akshay Kumar & Preeti Zinta. I never saw this movie but I liked the songs of it. However today I watched few scenes of Sangharsh and it was exact copy of Silence of the Lambs. Too Bad, the copy was nowhere match to the original thats why Sangharsh Flopped.

My Recommendation : Don't miss to watch this movie. Even if you don't like thriller movies then also it is good to watch this movie.

I watched this movie recently and I liked it very much, not because it has a great script or due to the 10 roles of Dr. Kamal Hassan but because the execution of the movie was great.

The story revolves around an Indian Scientist who was trying to save a Bio-Weapon from the hands of terrorist, but during the saving effort he was considered as the Villian by Indian Police. Then what happened ???

Watch the movie and you will really say Dr. Kamal Hassan is great.

A Must watch for any weekend.

Quantam of Solace

Yesterday I saw this movie and I must say it is not like old Bond movies but the director tried to mimic The Bourne Movies. Quite funny thing.

James Bond movies were popularized by the Gadgets, Cars and Sexy Girls but the current series is going away from it. I agree that older James Bond movie didn't had much to do with proper Spy thing but even then they were popular. Suddenly The Bourne Identity came and it created a standard for spy movies now even the producers and directors of James Bond Series are trying to follow that standard, I said funny because Bond has its own fan base who will never go to another spy movies but with QoS James Bond has shown signs of Jason Bourne.

The story was average and the whole movie revolved round revenge and profession.

I liked the movie, not because it was good but because they tried to follow my favourite movie Series.

Don't know how True James Bond lovers will react on such movies...

Batman: The Dark Knight

After much wait yesterday I got chance to watch Batman: The Dark Knight. It was very much hyped and I was waiting to see it since the day it has been released but I was lucky yesterday.

No doubt this was one of the best movie of the Batman series but still there were some drawbacks. First I will discuss the best part of this movie then the negative ones and finally the part which was soo good that it reminded me of Godfather PartII (my all time Fav. Movie).

Best things about this movie :

1. The role of Joker was excellently played by Heath Ledger, unfortunetly he died earlier this year so he was unable to enjoy his success in this movie. I always liked Heath Ledger since I saw his movie A Knight's Tale, his work was always good but I never knew he can show soo much talent in his last movie.

2. The story was tight and there was no scene where anybody can feel it boring or the story is going off track.

3. Actions were great and the sequences where Batman jumps off any building is really the one scene I will watch many time.

4. Michael Caine as always worked superb at Batman's trusted ally Alfred, the Butler.

Over all there are so many good stuff in this movie that it can not be simply described in few points. You have to watch it to believe.

Bad Things in this movie:

1. The role of Batman was never strong through out the movie except in the end. In the whole movie I wanted more batman action then the story but it was less.

2. Batman (Christian Bale) was never shown confident or a good detective in this movie unlike how it is shown in the Comic books.

3. All the time there was confusion blinding Batman which true Batman fan cannot like, becaue Batman is a character which is always clear in his mind. Though he has pressure for his responsibilities but he always take it easily. Only in the end the Batman Character was shown how it should be in the full movie.

4. The Ghotham city was shown completely changed than how it was in Batman Begins, in fact cave was also not shown as it should be.

5. Overall the character of Batman was shown less powerful and confident than the previous movie Batman Begins.


The Best part of the movie :

The best part of the movie was the final scene where Batman was taking responsibility for all the crimes that he didn't done, why???? See the movie and you will not regret. This scene is same beautifully shown as the last scene of The Godfather II part where Michael Corleone was sitting at the park's bench.

Both scene easily touches the heart because in both scenes the Hero is having pain and agony which he cannot show since he should be seen as a tough guy by the world around him.


Even if there are any negative points in this movie then all complaints are washed away with the last scenes of this movie.

But do remember the tone of this movie is Dark as the Frank Miller's Graphic novel "The Dark Knight Returns"

Trust me if you didn't watched this movie then you surely had missed one of the best movie of all time.

My rating for this movie : 10/10

Day before yesterday I watched "Awarapan" of Imran Hashmi. Te story was good but Imran was not fit for the role. However his work was good enough to give this movie a chance.

Story Outline : Shivam (Imran) has been asked by his boss to look after her girlfriend because his boss was suspicious of her. Shivam found out that the girl was betraying his boss. However when his boss asked Shivam to kill the girl, Shivam couldn't because he was also in love with one girl who taught him to help others.

Shivam decides to free up the girl and it might take his life in doing so.

Watch for the end.

Hitman

I brought this movie to see how the director has made a movie based on a great Video Game character Hitman. This movie has its theme on Hitman Video Game but the storyline is different.

The characters were properly tuned and action was also good. Most of the time the quickness and cunningnes of Agent 47 (The Hitman) was more or less similar to Jason Bourne. So It is a good watch for all Jason Bourne Fans.

Must watch as the story line is good and action is also good. The Hitman fights with Russian Secret Police and as well as has to deal with other hitmans who are after him. So this makes it a great storyline.

Enjoy it on weekends with loads of popcorns.

Yesterday I watched this movie. I never heard of this movie previously but since in this movie Johny Depp was the leading character so I just brought the DVD. It was a horror movie with lyrical approach. It was nice to see such new type of movies.

I can't recomend it to make it a must watch movie but still it is good if you have some spare time as It will make you watch whole movie to see the end, which is good enough to see.

Ocean's 13

I recently watched this movie. I liked Ocean 11 and Ocean 12 very much so I was looking forward to watch Ocean's 13. But what was more attractive was inclusion of Al Pacino as the Villian in this movie. I like Al Pacino most and in this movie he played his role brilliantly. He is an actor who can carry the whole movie on his shoulders but here in this movie we also have superb acting from George Clooney, Brad Pitt and Matt Damon.

The story line of this movie and the execution is far more better than the previous two installments and there is also some surprises at the end.

Overall this is the best movie of the Ocean's series.

A Must watch.

The Bourne Ultimatum

Yesterday I watched the movie "The Bourne Ultimatum". Its the third installment of the Jason Bourne Series and I must admit that Matt Damon is doing justice to the character.

Definitely its story plot is one of the best in the movie series. However it was not as good as The Bourne Supremacy but was better than The Bourne Identity.

Here's a quick story overview: The movie starts in Russia where Jason is escaping the police probably right after him telling the truth to Neski's daughter. He escapes and then communicates with a Journalist who is writing on him, from here the chase again begins and this time Bourne shows his superiority over CIA intelligence. By the end one secret of Bourne's past is revealed and Bourne is the Beginning of It and He has to end it.

This movie is not based on the Novel neither was the previous ones but I consider it to be best as after going through the novel I think that this movie is more appropriate on terms of story at present era. The novel was suitable for that era.

A Must watch for those who love real spy movies.

One recommendation : If you are James Bond fan then let me tell you this movie is far more better than James Bond movies in terms of Spy and their life but it will definitely disappoint you if you watch movie only for the gadgets of James Bond or the Girls. Real Spy movie would never have storyline as the James Bond movies have.

Must Watch as well as Collectible.

Ek Chalis Ki Last Local

This is a bollywood movie which is a bit out of routine. Its a nice movie and I enjoyed watching it. First time I liked any movie just because the scenes and timings were great.

All the situations in this movie were so natural that you might not even think that this is a movie but still its a great movie to watch and above all it is available on Moser Baer at cheapest possible price. VCD @ Rs. 34 and DVD @ Rs. 45.

The acting by Abhay Deol and Neha Dhupia was good, the story was nice and the direction was superb. I watched this movie Just because of one song which gives the overview of the movie. The song is "Laree Chuti", This song was not in the movie but is on the soundtrack of Ek Chalis Ki Last Local.

Must watch for all movie fans.

The story of The Prestige is build around professional rivalry among two illusionist The Great Danton and The Professor.
Their professional rivalry converts into a bitter battle which maked the life of both, a hell.

This movies starts with a failed act of The Great Danton (played by Hugh Jackman), where he dies in front of The Professor. Later on in the trial Borden (alias The Professor) was charged with the murder of Aglier (alias The Great Danton).

The movie revolves between flashbacks and present scenes which are easily distinguishable with a surprise element at the end.

The story is great and the end is most surprising. Although I somehow predicted the end during the movie but still it was shown in a different manner with a sense of sacrifice.

The main point behind the whole story was the nonacceptance of Anglier that Boreden has used a duplicate for his transport man trick. As he goes deep to uncover the secret behind his trick he find Tesla with a great discovery which would eventually change the life of both, his and his rival (Boreden).

This movie also reveals a lot of tricks performed by magicians which looks quite amusing to us but in real are more simpler but still done with a lot of practice.

I liked this movie very much, especially the surprise elements and I recommend it as a must watch movie even if you are not a fan of Hugh Jackman.

Thomas Crown Affair

A great movie I always like to watch. This one is a nice movie featuring Pierce Brosnan and Rene Russo.

In this movie Pierce played the role of a Financial geek Thomas crown who had stolen a million dollar painting in a great fashion. Rene cathces him in a Cat and Mouse chase. Overall this movie had all the wows and the soundtrack is superb. In the end you will find one of the great endings in Cinema.

You need to watch this to find yourself. A must watch.

SinCity & Madagascar

Day before Yesterday I watched these two movies and I found both of them to be equally interesting.

First SinCity:

Its a great movie with a new type of picturisation, I liked this one as a piece of art but as a movie it looked more like a comic book or graphical novel. It is based on a graphical novel to be precise. It is a must watch for all those art lovers as well as those who like new type of movies.

Madagascar

This is a great cartoon movie of 2005. It features few zoo animals who accidentely got themselves into wild of Madagascar. It is a great fun time movie with lots of friendship and comedy. A must watch.

Apart from these two I also watched Zinda and Kaliyug (both bollywood flicks). Both of these movies were surrounded with great hypes but they both left me disappointed. However Zinda was good on the point that it used a different story and kaliyug features a good story but still there were a lot of flaws in them. Good to watch only for those who wants some change from routine movies.

Rang De Basanti (Amir Khan) - This was another movie I watched few days back with my friends. It has a good story and good treatment also but was boring in the begining. I think it can only look good if watched in cinema halls. So don't watch it on CD.

Also yesterday I came back to barielly from my home, I saw the destruction occured in my College. The Nagar Nigam persons destroyed the boundry wall of our college as it was on the Govt.'s land. Also today one of my senior had an road accident and he died. I don't know much details right now but I might get more information tommarow.
